WELCOME LATINOS
LATINOS, WELCOME TO OUR GREATNESS. We respect you, we love you, and we embrace you. We welcome you to Republican Populism. Some of you are immigrants and some of you are natural born citizens. We embrace all of you. Latino’s have no reason to be Democrats. None whatsoever.
Our conservative values resonate with those of traditional Latino cultures everywhere. We see in Latinos your devotion to family, your sense of community, your strong work ethic, and your disdain for radical feminism and the transgender movement. Latino’s believe in God at a much higher rate that Americans. You respect authority, and you want a fair and just economic and legal system. These are all basic Republican concepts. Latino’s have come to America to live the American dream, to participate in capitalism, and to succeed. That very mindset on the American dream is inherently Republican. I recently lived over 10 years in a Latino neighborhood in Newark, New Jersey. I was immersed in Latino culture and discussion on political and economic issues. For me, this is more than theory. I speak with direct knowledge on this whole concept of welcoming Latino’s to the Republican Party. Latino’s should be Republicans. Period.
You want to be accepted as Americans and treated as equals. You don’t like that some Republicans look at you as criminals or as an invading force. I agree with you. I’m on your side. This is why I launched the Welcome Movement. The Republican Populist movement embraces you. Mainstream Republicans need to stop the attacks on Latino’s, and on immigrants overall.
In many places, immigration from Spanish-speaking countries have stabilized urban neighborhoods and brought economic development to depressed areas.
America needs immigration, and we want you to come legally. We need immigration for economic development, and we need it to create a pool of productive working people whose taxes will support retirement spending for the older generation. The structure of the economy as we know it requires an expanding population, and since the birth rates of Americans is very low, this mandates immigration.
The debate over immigration has deteriorated into a debate over whether the borders of the United States should be open or regulated. This is a distraction. People in the future will look back and laugh at this debate. It’s ridiculous. A nation does not exist without borders and security. What’s the point of having a legal process for immigration if there is no wall and anyone can just walk in? It’s an absurd discussion. Nobody should have a problem with a border wall, and once the attitude towards Latino’s and other immigrants changes, few people will have a problem with the wall. The Democrats have a position that is absurd from any objective analysis.
The border needs to be enforced, and we need to increase legal immigration. These two concepts should not be twisted and warped, and used against each other. How we resolve the current debate over immigration is still up in the air, but since America needs more immigration, an amnesty program for those already here should be strongly considered. Those with children born here should be top priority for amnesty. Amnesty should not be extended to anyone with a criminal record.
We state openly that our economic positions are in the best interest of Latinos, among others. Our economic vision is outlined in more detail on the Welcome African-Americans link.
Central to the belief system of the Republican Populist movement is that everything about the economic system must be designed to foster the prosperity and advancement of the working class, the middle class, and families with children of all economic levels. We cannot tolerate sneaky ways to try to convince the average voter to support economic policies that actually benefit only the wealthiest persons, and tax the rest of us more heavily.
As more and more Republicans embrace the Republican Populist agenda, and as more and more Republican Populist candidates are elected in State after State, there will be an open running battle within the Republican Party to keep the Party clean. We encourage Latino’s to seek elected office, as Republicans.
We know that the interests of the wealthy have a strong say in the Republican Party, and they are not pushing public policy in the directions we advocate. That’s exactly why we are doing this. It is incompatible with Word of God to structure society to benefit the wealthy at the expense of the poor and working class. As society moves further from God, we also move further from the central teaching of Jesus that we MUST help the poor. This is a problem that we are directly addressing with the Welcome Movement. It’s not a footnote. We will keep an eagle eye on all economic proposals coming from the Trump administration or Republicans in Congress, and we will have something to say about them. If Republicans are the Party that believes in God, we must follow the Word of God. We must uplift the poor. And the best way to do that without impacting the taxpayers is to reign in on the excesses within the economy.
The Republican Party must be reformed. The Party must move in a populist direction. There is no other option.
What about the Democrats? The Democrats are no longer an option. Corruption is rampant, especially in the urban centers. I lived over 10 years in in Newark, NJ, and I was the city’s leading advocate for rent control. I wrote the strongest rent control ordinance ever passed in the United States. It came right off of my computer. Over 27,000 families in Newark are each over $2,000 a year on rent because of my community advocacy. Do the math, it’s a lot of money. I followed the Word of God and I helped to uplift the poor and working class, and it didn’t cost taxpayers a dime. In fact, families saved so much money that consumer spending increased, and Newark is now booming. The big landlords hated me, and they have tremendous pull among local Democratic elected officials. My group got that ordinance passed over the opposition of the Essex County Democratic Organization, and we spent years defending it in Court and at city council meetings. I know all about Democratic corruption. It’s disgusting.
So many elected Democrats are corrupted by the same corporate interests as the elected Republicans that there is barely a difference between the two parties on economic issues. The main difference between the parties is on social issues. Plus the Democratic Party has descended into hostility, anarchy and craziness. People are walking away in droves, and for good reason. Our central mission is to provide a realistic case to come over to the Republican side, and that can only happen with major reforms to Republican theory, especially on economics and immigration. Those are our two biggest issues.
We are not marching to the drum of mainstream Republican thinking in America. Trump and the Republican leadership are wrong to demonize Latino’s. They are wrong to call them rapists and criminals. Remember what Donald Trump said about the judge in Indiana who was of Mexican descent? This is all political stupidity, and it has to end.
We stand ready to rally opposition within the Republican Party to any proposed legislation that runs contrary to the core beliefs and action items of Republican Populism.
We find it ridiculous that the Democrats want immigration simply because over 50% of immigrants will vote Democrat. That same reasoning is behind Democratic initiatives to drop the voting age from 18 to 16, and then to ban those over 70 from voting. Those over 70 statistically vote Republican. Democratic politics is all about group conflict. It’s all about creating as much divisions as possible, and then defining and pitting as many groups as possible against what they perceive to be Republican interests. These tactics were defined by Socialist activist Saul Alinsky in the 1960’s. We cannot stand this thinking. And now the Republicans are using the same tactics in reverse. We cannot stand that as well.
These tactics have to be seen for what they are, it’s the mainstay of political zealots and extremists on the Left. There’s no big tent, and there’s no welcoming or embracing. You either accept the divisive Democratic agenda, or you are a homophobe, a racist, a mysgonist, and worse.
What would happen if most immigrants embraced the Republican Populist movement, and voted Republican? Are the Democrats going to change their tune and start calling for restrictions on immigration. You bet they are. It will happen, just watch.
Welcome Latinos, welcome to our greatness. And welcome to Republican Populism. And when people ask why you are Republican, you have an answer. You are a Republican because you support Republican Populism.
